NAIHC Board Member
As a producer, farm manager, ag lender, and all-around agri-businessman, George is the owner of his 14,800-acre family farm operating in Illinois, Arkansas and Nebraska with a purebred Angus herd. He is part owner in seven John Deere dealerships and owns the Waterloo Republic-Times newspaper. He is a retired Trust Officer and Farm Manager at West Pointe Bank and Trust.
In July 2016, Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner appointed George to the Illinois Finance Authority, saying George “will bring an important perspective to the board” based on his experience as a former executive with Union Planters Bank and then West Pointe Bank and Trust. The Illinois Finance Authority provides access to low-cost capital to public and private institutions aligned with the state’s mission of fostering economic development, creating and retaining jobs, and improving quality of life for Illinois residents.
Along with serving on the NAIHC board, George has represented his industry and community on multiple boards and commissions, including the Monroe County Farm Bureau, the Illinois State FSA Committee for USDA, Illinois Agricultural Advisory Committee, the Illinois Corn Growers Association, the Illinois Soybean Association, Illinois Corn Marketing Board Chairman, US Meat Export Federation Chairman, Red Bud Regional Hospital Board Vice Chairman, Southern Illinois Power Company (generation plant) Board Member, and 4-H Foundation Vice President. He has been active politically serving on Illinois Farmers for George Bush, Sen. Kirk’s Ag Election Committee, as well as many other Republican efforts.
